A Novel

I want to read a novel. Something that will take me a while--I've got about three hours of free time at school every day after I finish teaching. Give me suggestions in the comments. Please? You can do it anonymously if that turns you on.

Okay bed

Well, I'm a big fan of The Buddha of Suburbia because you've got culture clash, identity development, sexcapades, and poignant commentary on the 1970s theater scene in London.

Middlemarch is gorgeous for the langauge and interweaving stories of dreams- some deferred, some gained in a new light.

Read "The Social Animal" by Aronson. Better than a novel.

Read Running With Scissors: A Memoir by Augusten Burroughs.
I know you'll enjoy it.

I've been meaning to read the buddha of suburbia and middlemarch, too. I would suggest The complete Curious George, but I bet the first two books are better.

David - As I sit here seeking redemption from the wholly father: Friar Timothy shall be thy name...a novel comes to mind. The end of the world is near - the Oregon coast tilts to the west, then to the east, finally a balance is realized - and for you my son there is: A Gift Upon the Shore. A good read for any futurest who may travel this way.
