Opening lines
Recently, my students were analyzing song lyrics, and at the time the only thing I was really listening to was like three Wilco songs on repeat all the time, and it reminded me of a post I've wanted to do for a while, which is about the best first lines of songs. Here are some of my favorites. Post yours as comments.

"How can I convince you it's me I don't like"
Wilco, 'Reservations'
"When I'm stable long enough, I start to look around for love"
Weezer, 'Pink Triangle'
"On the 22 slowly crossing town"
Two Gallants, 'Anna's Sweater'
"Half of what I say is meaningless"
The Beatles, 'Julia'
"I met you at JC Penney"
Beck, 'Debra'
